Choosing Faith

Faith is an overused word in modern society, especially in Christian circles. We “live by faith,” “are saved by grace through faith,” “need more faith,” and take “steps or leaps of faith.” We commonly encourage people to “have faith,” or “keep the faith.” We use the word, “faith” so often its meaning (and power) has been watered down or lost completely. This is where John W. Saultz’s book, Choosing Faith, comes in.

Saultz surveys the subject of faith. He looks at how faith is formed, how faith is different for different age groups, how we grow in faith and the important role faith plays as we live out our lives with meaning and purpose. Choosing Faith is not an exhaustively researched examination of faith, but rather a meaningful stroll through the topic. While enjoying the book, readers can enjoy the sights and sound of faith, come across new perspectives, make discoveries, and more fully appreciate the element of faith in their lives.HeH

I did not have any life changing revelations about faith, by reading the book. I was, however, able to reflect on the nature and substance of faith in my life. Pausing to examine its many facets, it spawned a greater awareness of the role faith plays in my life and it sparked a deep sense of thankfulness for this precious gift.

I encourage everyone to take the time to read this little book and reflect on its topic., you will be glad you did.
