God in My Head–Vision or Fantasy?

God in My Head

What would your reaction be if someone came up to you and told you that they had had a near death experience, or that they had seen and talked to God? It probably would be one of skepticism. I know that is how I approached a book that I was asked to review entitled, God in My Head: The True Story of an Ex-Christian who Accidentally Met God, by Joshua Steven Grisetti. My skepticism wasn’t helped by the fact that the author admits he was in a drug induced high when he met God.

Why I Like the Book

You’re probably wondering why I’m even “wasting my time” writing a review of this book and asking you to “waste your time,” reading this review. It’s because I like the book. I can’t validate the authenticity of the author’s experience. The theological views that he writes about from his encounter with God can easily be picked apart by systematic theologians (they can annihilate any theological opinion that is opposed to their own views). You are guaranteed to disagree with at least some of the ideas he presents and you may even be offended by a few, too. So, why did I like it? It was thought provoking.

Grisetti writes in an easy going “take it or leave it” manner. His goal is not to argue doctrines or to poke holes in our preconceived ideas. The purpose of his book is to tell a story. It’s the author’s gift to the reader. The reader can do with it what he or she wants. I like that. It is something that I think is missing in our society today. So often we seem to use our communication opportunities not to share our stories, but to argue some point.

So, I recommend this book to you. Pick it up and enjoy it. It’s not a hard read and it will get you thinking.

I received this book free from the author and/or publisher through the Speakeasy blogging book review network. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
